AFL Invests $50 Million to Expand Fiber Optic Cable Manufacturing Operations in the U.S.

AFL’s investment in fiber will provide new jobs, increase production of fiber optic cable, and much more.

AFL recently announced its over $50 million investment to expand fiber manufacturing operations in South Carolina. The investment aligns with the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Internet for All government initiatives to further broadband access in the United States. It will also lead to new jobs being created and support’s the company’s compliant Build America, Buy America Act (BABA) products.

“This expansion highlights AFL's commitment to providing an end-to-end BABA compliant cable and connectivity portfolio for our valued U.S. customers and represents a significant milestone toward AFL’s ongoing contribution to a stronger, more connected future for all communities across the country,” said Jaxon Lang, President and CEO of AFL.

AFL had previously invested over $35 million “in the expansion of domestic cable manufacturing to support broadband deployment and modernization of the power grid. These expansions continue AFL’s four-decade long commitment to job creation and U.S. manufacturing”.

Some key aspects of the expansion include increased production for fiber optic cable, growing the local economy through the creation of new jobs, the development of sustainable and innovative fiber solutions, and supporting the domestic supply chain and the company’s commitment to using materials made in the U.S.
